Allegation policies
The Review of Management and Commerce recognizes the importance of research integrity and ethical practice while conducting research. Our policy on dealing with cases of research misconduct complies with the best practices outlined by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
Author Responsibilities
Authors should read and ensure they follow the guidelines and ethics stated in the author guidelines and policies of the journal before they submit their manuscripts.
Reporting Research Misconduct
Misconduct in research can be related to an actually published paper, or a paper under consideration for publication. The process for handling such allegations is as follows:
- Submission of Complaint:
- The editorial office of the journal receives information from the reader who claims that the article submitted to or published in the journal is involved in research misconduct.
- The complainant must give details and evidence on the misconduct that has happened. For instance, if one intends to report plagiarism, the intended complainant should mark out the plagiarized part and should include sources of both the original and suspected versions.
- Initial Investigation:
- The editorial office will report the matter to start an investigation. At the same time, the journal editor, as well as the corresponding author(s) of the analyzed article, will be notified.
- The allegation will be forwarded to the corresponding author(s), he/she/they will be required to enter a defense with raw evidence.
- Resolution Process:
- According to the seriousness of the case, proper measures will be taken if the corresponding author of the paper acknowledges the misconduct. Potential actions include:
- Directing some form of apology to all readers by issuing a correction or retraction of the article.
- Manuscript rejection if it is still under review.
- If there is no response to the warning or an explanation is not provided within the specified time limit, the journal can act according to the submitted article, and retract it or reject it. Consultation with some professional bodies or organizations may be called from before final decision is made.
- Communication of Outcome:
- The complainant will be informed of the outcome once the investigation is complete.
- The case will be considered closed upon the resolution.
By adhering to these procedures, the Review of Management and Commerce ensures that all the allegations of research misconduct are handled with the utmost sensitivity, fairness, and the confidentiality by maintaining the integrity and trustworthiness of the scholarly record.
